Integration Management
The Broadcast and Media industry has always relied on technology to deliver its product. Moreover, in the last 10 years or so it has come to rely almost entirely on computer-based and digital systems to achieve its goals. This has however caused it’s own set of problems by creating islands of technology and information.
These islands have been created by implementing individual solutions from differing vendors to overcome business and operational problems. More often than not duplication of data, processes and workload has been seen as a small price to pay in implementing the point solution. But in today’s cost conscious world the ability to reduce operational overheads and increase efficiencies has meant that an updated approach is necessary.
Choosing the best of breed solutions has always been part of the broadcast and media landscape, and it is also likely to stay that way for some time to come. Even if a single vendor were able to provide a complete end-to-end solution for all of the business and operational aspects of an organisations needs, it is very likely that there would be an element of integration of existing systems to be considered in the short term.
Add the “convergence” issue to the “island” philosophy and there is a recipe for anarchy throughout an operation. At Osprey we have been at the forefront of managing integration of these “islands” whilst deploying converged infrastructures, applications and technologies. With this expertise Osprey personnel are perfectly placed to assist in the management of both the definition of the integration requirements and the integration process itself.
Understanding and managing the software and hardware requirements alongside the communications and protocol issues is all part of the service offered by Osprey. But equally as important, the expertise and experience of the operational and business processes that will rely on the integrated and converged solution has been gained over the last 13 years from live operational environments.
